Nov 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jill Clayburgh’s daughter Lily Rabe must be going through a tough time in her life after her mother left for heavenly abode. Lily Rabe has canceled her upcoming Broadway appearance and she feels that she would take time to recover her loss. Lily Rabe was supposed to play the role of Portia in “The Merchant of Venice” which will be presented in the Broadhurst Theater. However, after the actress canceled her performance, the role of Portia reportedly will be played by Kim Martin-Cotten.
The media outlets reported that the opening day of the show has been postponed and fixed on November 15. However, some sources said that Kim Martin-Cotten will play the role of Portia until Lily Rabe returns. Ace actor Al Pacino will play the role of Shylock, Byron Jennings as Antonio, David Harbouras Bassanio as Lorenzo, Gerry Bamman as Duke of Venice, to name a few. It has been reported that some of the cast of the Broadway play has been altered temporarily owing to the demand of the circumstances. A reputed web portal reported that a new opening date of the Broadway play will be announced next week.
Jill Clayburgh lost her prolonged battle with leukemia and breathed her last on Friday. It seems that Lily Rabe, who was so close to her mother needs her own time for mourning over the death of her mother for which she has canceled all her performances. “The Merchant of Venice” is one of the best plays of William Shakespeare and Lily Rabe has been playing the role of Portia with confidence. The Broadway designing of the play is done by Mark Wendland and costumes have been designed by Kenneth Posner.
