Lily Allen made honorary member of cricket club
November 20th, 2009 - 5:30 pm ICT by ANILondon, Nov 20 (ANI): Brit singer Lily Allen has been made an honorary member of a cricket club after she professed her love of the sport over the summer this year.
Allen, 24, had revealed her obsession with the game during England’s Ashes series against Australia, attending the matches and regularly updating her fans with the latest scores via her Twitter.com blog page.
And now bosses at Lancashire County Cricket Club have decided to thank the star for her dedication to the sport, handing her a bat signed by the England team and a lifelong membership at the club.
“Cricket, particularly the longer format of the game, is generally enjoyed by the traditionalists - with the younger generation preferring the shorter formats,” the Daily Express quoted club chief executive Jim Cumbes as saying.
“Lily’s admission over summer that she loves her cricket, particularly Test cricket, certainly increased the profile of the sport and this will hopefully lead to more people becoming involved in cricket,” he added. (ANI)
