August 6, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Lily Allen is over the moon at the prospect of becoming a mother. The British Pop singer is currently expecting a child with boyfriend Sam Cooper. She had been very candid about her desire to start a family ever since she began dating the painter and decorator, Cooper. The couple had been dating since July 2009 but knew each other well as friends for years.

The 25 year old singer star recently revealed to the Elle magazine that she does not consider herself to be too young to have a baby. Her mother had had her when she was a couple of years younger. She also said that having a family will in fact; help her feel more grounded by providing her with a meaning for existence.

She has now disclosed her pregnancy to all her family and friends, this weekend after her scan at three months. The happy news was also shared with ‘The Sun’.

She, however, did not say anything about the impending date and denied that the baby will be arriving in May. The media got curious after she was spotted walking through London sporting an obvious baby bump.

The happy news will go a long way in relieving the trauma of the tragic miscarriage that Allen suffered two years earlier. She had been dating Ed Simons, the star of the ‘Chemical Brothers’ then.

She also said that she would put her career as a singer on hold for the time being while she concentrated on other things like launching a record album and a clothing store this year.
