Lil Wayne makes history topping music charts from behind bars
November 2nd, 2010 - 6:56 pm ICT by ANISydney, Nov 02 (ANI): Rapper Lil Wayne has made history after he topped the music charts from behind bars.
Wayne, 28, is the first artist in 15 years to release a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart while serving a sentence, with his ‘I Am Not a Human Being’ spending a week in the top slot.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, it has sold more than 323,000 copies since its September 27 release.
“The challenge was to make sure you feel like he never left,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Bryan “Birdman” Williams, the Cash Money Records co-founder, as saying.
“We came with a good strategy, and it worked,” he added. (ANI)
