Oct. 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr better known as Lil Wayne was long ago found in possession of an illegal gun. In 2007 a .40 caliber gun was found in his bus in New York. On 22nd July 2007, his tour bus was pulled over on Columbus Circle by the authorities after they detected marijuana smoke wafting out of the bus. The tour bus had just left a concert, minutes earlier. Also, he was seen throwing away a Louis Vuitton bag [which contained the gun] when he saw an officer approach. He was arrested and a pistol and marijuana was found on him later by the police. He had also been noticed smoking marijuana with one of his mates.
The DNA profiling technique known as ‘touch DNA testing’ used to connect him to the gun is going under hearing to test its reliability. This test has alone solved a number of cases in UK. However, even then it was criticized and was stopped being put to use.
Wayne’s lawyers states that the gun was not his and that the DNA test itself is unreliable. However the prosecuting lawyer claims, that the DNA test connects the rapper with the gun-clearly. The defense lawyer, Stacey Richman also defends that the bus from which the gun was taken had other 27 people aboard. Wayne is also being put on trial in the state of Arizona for possession of drugs and also felony charges. The case was raised in early 2008. 27 year old ‘Tha Carter’ boy pleads not guilty in the case lodged in Arizona. He may have to spend 8 months in jail. However if he’s convicted in the original case then he may be spending a period of 3.5 years in confinement. His official date for trial in the court is set for being held on 10th March 2010.
