Letterman plotNew York, Oct 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There has been new unraveling in the Letterman Extortion plot. On Thursday, a much-married David Letterman had revealed on his show that some one was blackmailing him with proof that he was sleeping around some women on the show. He revealed that the blackmailer was demanding a $2 million payout.

According to reports, it’s been revealed that CBS producer Robert “Joe” Halderman is the man who is trying to blackmail David Letterman for $2 million. He was arrested yesterday outside the CBS headquarters in New York City by the police. He pleaded not guilty after being charged with blackmailing Letterman for $2 million.

Robert Halderman is a fifty-one year old producer for CBS News’s show ’48 Hours’ for which he has won Emmy award too. He could get 15 years in jail if convicted.

However, as time passes by, new layers are unfolding in this extortion drama. Attorney for Robert Halderman said that, “Joe Halderman was at CBS for 27 years. Here’s a guy who was an investigative journalist for so many years. To say that he was trapped in an extortion plot was kind of preposterous.”

“I look forward to cross-examining David Letterman,” Gerald Shargel, attorney for accused extortionist Robert “Joe” Halderman “If you only hear David Letterman’s side of the story, take it at face value and say, ‘Turn off the sets, that Halderman’s guilty’ — I think that’s plain wrong.”
