Leonardo DiCaprio To Act In ‘The Great Gatsby’?

Oct 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The latest Hollywood buzz is that Baz Luhrmann the Academy award winning film maker is now considering a film adaptation of ‘The Great Gatsby’ of F. Scot Fitzgerald. The film maker may just make a screen adaptation of the classic tale. The film may have some of the leading actors of Hollywood. If the industry buzz is anything to go by then ace actor Leonardo DiCaprio may play the character of Tom Gatsby. Other actors who might be roped in for the project are Rebecca Hall and Tobey Maguire. However, some other reports suggest that actresses Natalie Portman and Amanda Seyfried are being considered for playing the character of Daisy on screen.
The director who won several awards and oodles of critical acclaim for his masterpieces like ‘Moulin Rouge’ is still thinking whether the adaptation will be worth the effort. The reports also suggest that the Inception actor is now busy reading the script. The film may be produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment. However, neither the actor nor the director has said anything formally on the film so far. Moreover the director is known for conducting workshop for every script and so the aforesaid actors may not be there in the final cast at all.
The novel was adapted into film earlier in 1974. Leonardo DiCaprio has been riding high after the phenomenal success of his latest release Inception and he has got loads of critical acclaim for his performance in that blockbuster. If he indeed ends up playing Gatsby in the movie, it will add another feather in his cap.
