jay August 23, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Jay Leno performed at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino on Saturday in order to raise money for the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The prices of the tickets were set at $40 - $150. The show was watched by more than a 1500 people and was a sellout.

The show was basically a standup comedy where Leno proceeded to entertain his audiences with topical issues. This was strictly a one show only concert and is not likely to have any repeat performances. Several oil spill jokes were cracked by the comedian who proceeded to open the show with a dig at the BP shareholders. Terrorist suicide bombers, Mel Gibson marriage woes as well as the former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin all featured prominently in his jokes. Quips about the religious improprieties as well as the promiscuous priests made the audience double up with laughter as well.

The Gulf Coast Community Fund will be distributing the money to the Mississippi Oil Spill Recovery Fund which is linked with several non profit oil spill recovery projects.

The money thus raised helped the people of the Mississippi Gulf coast to recover from the devastating effects of the BP oil spill. Leno topped up the total amount of $90,336 with some money of his own and made it $100,000. He then handed over the check to the president of the foundation, Rich Westfall.

About 130 fans of Leno who had spent $150 each for their tickets also got to spend time with the comedian after the show.

Leno currently hosts the NBC show titled ‘The Tonight Show With Jay Leno’.
