Lennon assassination film premieres in LiverpoolNovember 29th, 2007 - 4:35 pm ICT by admin
London, November 29 (ANI): A movie about Sir John Lennons assassination premiered in Liverpool on Tuesday.
Andrew Piddington, the writer and director of The Killing Of John Lennon, admits that it was a difficult to organise the event in the former Beatle’s hometown.
“I was very sensitive about whether to bring it to Liverpool because it’s still very raw in so many peoples minds, you know, the loss of one of their cultural founding fathers, the Daily Snack quoted him as saying.
“It’s something that will never be forgotten or forgiven so the decision to bring the film here was thought about a lot. It was only fair to bring it here to Liverpool and show people and see what they felt,” he added.
The film, scheduled for release on 7 December, features how Mark Chapman shot Lennon dead outside his New York home on 8 December 1980.
“My aim with this film began with my uncertainty about what the facts were. I thought I knew the story of John Lennon, the killing of John Lennon, and when I started to uncover the truth I found I didn’t know the story, Andrew said.
“I knew the series of events that led up to the murder but I didn’t know the mind behind the killer. I set out to try and explore the reasons why he did it and hopefully to come up with something that gave me some kind of closure on the tragic loss of somebody so amazingly talented who still had so much to offer,” he added.
