Feb 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Highly anticipated Christian E. Christiansen directed movie “The Roommate” hit the silver screen on Friday. Though the movie received mixed response from the critics and the audience, actress Leighton Meester’s performance is appreciated as she managed to get into the skin of her character. In one of her recent interviews, Leighton Meester told a reputed media outlet that for her role as Rebecca in “The Roommate” she spoke with few psychiatrists, who gave her tips about the obsessive disorder in some specific cases, which they represented in court.

Leighton Meester plays the role of a college girl Rebecca, who becomes obsessed with her roommate Sara (Minka Kelly). The movie shows that Rebecca suffers from bipolar disorder. In her interview, the actress said that the people who suffer from this kind of disorders are not mentally sound and hence she had to do lot of research before playing the role. The “Gossip Girl” actress said that Rebecca’s character was “tough” and as a result she tried to rationalize the pros and cons of her reel life character.

Leighton Meester said that she watched and studied films like “A Woman Under the Influence”, “Single White Female”, “Fatal Attraction” and “The Crush” to delve deeper into her character. In her interview, the actress said that it was an interesting character and by studying books and movies she got an idea about what people generally feel when they are in love. Leighton Meester said that people who suffer from psychological disorders feel that there are no boundaries in life and they can do what they want to do. The actress also added that the “most beneficial” thing for her was talking to the doctors, who gave her backgrounds of such bipolar disorders.
