Lee DeWyze decision not to present Idol trophy shocks all
May 28th, 2011 - 12:34 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattLos Angeles, May 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Lee DeWyze’s decision not to present the Idol trophy to Scotty McCreery during the finals of this season’s “American Idol” have “upset” the executive producer of the show Nigel Lythgoe.
Lee won the title last season and according to Nigel, he was supposed to present the trophy to the new winner. Nigel believes that Lee refused to do the presentation because he was probably shy to get on stage.
He tweeted that, “I was so upset Lee DeWyze wouldn’t present the winner’s trophy to Scotty. Especially as he’d been on the show this season. I guess he was shy.”
The tweet got a reaction from Lee who explained that he was not informed ahead of time that he would be going on the stage. According to Lee’s account, he was only informed by Nigel that he will be making the presentation just minutes after the winner’s name has been announced. He declined to do so because “It was Scotty’s moment.”
Nigel denied Lee’s story saying the singer was informed a week ahead of time that he will be making the presentation on the night. Some fans who later joined the argument started throwing insults in the direction of Nigel.
