LAX police arrest killer of rap artist DollaMay 20th, 2009 - 1:48 am ICT by John Le Fevre
Los Angeles police have arrested a 23-year-old man for the murder of American rap artist Dolla at a Beverly Hills shopping mall on Monday afternoon.
According to police 21-year-old Dolla, whose real name was Roderick Anthony Burton II, was shot and killed while standing at a valet parking booth outside the Beverly Center with fellow rapper D.J. Shabbazz.
A short time later Los Angeles Airport police apprehended a man with a loaded 9mm semiautomatic handgun in the airport ticketing area.
Los Angeles police announced on Tuesday that 23-year-old Aubrey Louis Berry of Georgia was being held on $US1 million bail over the rap artists killing. Another male and a female with Berry were also being questioned, but had not been charged in connection with the shooting.
Dolla is best known for his hit tunes Who The F**k Is That and Feelin Myself. At the time of his death he had been working on his second album A Dolla And A Dream.
Dolla worked on the soundtrack for the 2006 dance film Step Up and recently released two singles with Konvict Muzik label boss Akon, Like This and She So Fine.”
