Detroit, Mar 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Michigan Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit filed by Detroit officials against rap singer Dr Dre.

The lawsuit was filed after City Councilman Gary Brown claimed that his privacy was violated when he was videotaped backstage at the rapper’s concert back in 2000 and the video was later used in a DVD.

Dr. Dre initially sued the city of Detroit for preventing him from playing an explicit video with sexual and violent content. Gary Brown, who served as police official at the time, along with other law enforcement members showed up at Joe Louis Arena and ordered producers not to play the video.

The case was settled with an apology from then-mayor Dennis Archer.

The confrontation was taped and then released without permission from the city officials, resulting in another law suit. Dr. Dre’s attorney stated that they [the official] had no privacy rights while doing their job at the concert more than ten years ago. This case was dropped at the state’s appeals court in 2007. However the verdict was invalidated by the Michigan Supreme Court.
