Lauren’s still on top

The latest buzz is that veteran Hollywood actress Lauren Bacall will be conferred with an honorary Oscar by the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences.
The 84 year old diva and one time wife of Hollywood’s favorite leading man Humphrey Bogart had received the nomination or the Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars way back in 1996 for film “The Mirror Has Two Faces’ but unfortunately had lost out.
But the actress of memorable films like “How to marry a Millionaire’ and ‘Murder in the Orient Express’ has been chosen to be honored with a honorary statuette, which is given away to those who are not covered by the Academy Awards. The others receiving the honorary statue this year are cinematographer Gordon Willis and veteran director Roger Corman.
The awards will be given away at the inaugural Governors Awards event in November 09.
John Calley who made much talked about movies like “The Remains of the Day’ and “The Da Vinci Code’ will be honored with the Irving G Thalberg Memorial Award.
