Lauren Bacall to be honoured by Academy Awards bosses
September 12th, 2009 - 4:52 pm ICT by ANILondon, Sept 12 (ANI): Veteran actress Lauren Bacall will receive an honorary Oscar from Academy Awards bosses in a special ceremony.
The 84-year-old star was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars in 1996 for film ‘The Mirror Has Two Faces’ but didn’t win the award.
However, after a decade Bacall is among this year’s recipients of an honorary statue, given to celebrate motion picture achievements not covered by existing Academy Awards.
Veteran director Roger Corman, who has produced more than 300 films in his career, and cinematographer Gordon Willis will also be felicitated by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, reports the Daily Express.
John Calley, who has produced movies like ‘The Remains of the Day’ and ‘The Da Vinci Code’, will receive Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award.
The prizes will be presented at the inaugural Governors Awards gala event in November (09). (ANI)
