Larry Forgione’s Son, Mark Forgione Is The Next Iron Chef

Nov 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Mark Forgione is Larry Forgione’s son. Recently, Mark Forgione participated in the cookery show, that decided who would be the Next Iron Chef, for the show that is aired on Food Network. Larry Forgione emerged with the title proving that he is no less than his father when it comes to culinary skills.
The show was being judged by restaurateur Donatella Arpaia; food writer and broadcaster Simon Majumdar and current Iron Chef Michael Symon, winner of the Season 1 competition. Bobby Flay and Masaharu Morimoto also joined them to decide who would win the “Iron Chef” title. The other potential winner of yesterday’s show was Marco Canora. Both of them were asked to prepare a delicious thinks giving dinner for a high profile celebrated holiday. Each of them were given an hour to prepare five dishes, with ingredients like heritage turkey, duck, lobster and racks of venison at their disposal. The five exciting dishes that Mark Forgione cooked were Clam chowder with mussels, cod and sweet potatoes, Duck sausage and swiss chard with cornbread, Butter poached lobster tail and sunchoke spinach puree, Chestnut stuffed venison with butternut squash and Plum cobbler with candied walnuts and vanilla ice cream. While Marco Canora cooked Roasted fennel soup with butter poached lobster, Pumpkin risotto with amaretti biscuits, Turkey breast with porcini stuffing, Roasted venison with corn sformato and Pecan tart with cranberry sorbet and squash confit.
The judges said that it was extremely close battle where both the finalists pursued very different procedures. Where the more experienced Marco Canora resorted to the traditional means of cooking, Mark Forgione turned out to be more creative in the show. The winner took a big risk by not incorporating Turkey in the dinner, which is regarded as an indispensable part of a good Thanks Giving Meal. Yet, his creativity got him through, said the judges.
