Lady Gaga’s Circle Lenses Are Unsafe, Say Optometrists

July 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Are circle contact lenses safe for the eye? This is the question being asked by many women who want to sport the trend made popular by Lady Gaga in one of her latest music videos. In fact Lady Gaga has been wearing a circle contact lens for quite some time now. Celebrities and fashion go hand in hand and so does the fact that it is a celebrity who first starts a fashion trend. This time though Lady Gaga’s fashion statement goes against the rules set by doctors.
A ‘circle contact lens’ is known to give a “doll-like” look to every girl who wears it. This is because of the fact that a ‘circle lens’ makes the eye look wider than what it normally is. Reports claim that the ‘circle contact lens’ is imported from different countries in Asia to the United States, where they are available in a variety of colors and shapes.
They look good or they look bad, optometrists are definitely not happy about the fact that these lenses are being sported by almost every teenager in the US today in an effort to match up to the style of Lady Gaga as depicted in her “Bad Romance” video. The American Optometric Association has issued a warning to the general public making them aware of how use of a ‘circle lens’ may lead to the gradual deterioration of one’s vision. Sadly though teenagers are hardly prepared to take any notice of the warning, and sale of these special lenses has not seen a drop yet.
