Lady Gaga to play for Japan benefit

Los Angeles, April 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Lady Gaga is one of the celebrities who have stood up for Japan since the tsunami struck. The singer first contributed a song for the charity album “Songs for Japan” and later donated $1.5 million towards the relief efforts in the country.

The latest kind gesture of the singer towards Japan is her decision to sing at the MTV Japan benefit concert. Proceeds from the concert would be given to the Japanese Red Cross to help in the relief efforts in the country. The concert would be held at the Makuhari Messe exhibition center in Chiba.

The show would be held on the 25th of June. The MTV Video Music Aid Japan concert would also serve as the 10th MTV Japanese Video Music Awards. Several top stars in the country and around Asia are expected to perform at the event. In appearance would be the Japanese girls’ band AKB48.

On the 11th of March, the coastal towns of Japan were devastated when a 9.0 earthquake triggered a tsunami. About 12,000 people have been confirmed dead with tens of thousands of others declared missing. The country is currently struggling to handle the nuclear disaster that followed the tsunami.
