September19, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The controversial singer, Lady Gaga made news once again when she turned up in a dress made up of uncooked meat for the VMA. She admitted that it was her way of protesting against the military’s stand of,’ Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy. The entire apparel was put together by stringing uncooked pieces of beef. The designer’s family butcher had apparently been behind making of the dress as had managed to come up with the right pieces of beef that served the purpose.
Lady Gaga believes that it is high time to start sticking for our beliefs. Otherwise, she claims, that we will actually be left with as much right as the meat that covers our bones.
The singer had also urged her numerous fans to call their Senators and protest against the discrimination against the gays. The black and white video in which she asks her fans to voice their opposition to the anti-gay policy of the US military shows her in front of an American Flag . Lady Gaga said that the video was predominantly meant as an opposition to the Republican Senators who had steadfastly refused to reverse the anti-gay policy. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, James Inhofe of Oklahoma, Jeff Sessions from Alabama as well as Arizonian Senator John McCain were the ones targeted by her.
She had also tweeted asking her followers to request Senate Majority Harry Reid for scheduling a vote in order to repeal the policy. The vote has already been scheduled, however, and Reid informed Lady Gaga of this via his own tweet.
Senator McCain responded to her in an interview with the KFYI in Phoenix this Friday. He said that he hopes the singer will follow the debate on the floor of the Senate and get to understand that it is a politically motivated ploy by Reid and other Democrats who can see their majority slipping away.
