London, Dec 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Lady Gaga is preferred to play a biopic of late singer Amy Winehouse, reports suggest. Amy’s father Mitch who has been at the forefront of creating a legacy for his daughter told newsmen that he prefers to have the Born This Way star play the role of his daughter in the movie.

Mitch says he has learnt that Gaga has indicated in the past that she will want to play the role of Amy in a movie. He is also all for it but warned Gaga that she will need to polish her English accent to make the role original.

Amy was found dead at her apartment in London last summer. The Coroner’s office reported that she died from alcohol poison.

Speaking about the biopic, Mitch told the Mirror that, “We were invited to TONY BENNETT’s birthday party and we sat on a table with Lady Gaga’s mum and dad…I have heard that Lady Gaga is keen to play Amy in a film. I don’t know what her English accent is like but it’s not just an English accent she would have to perfect – it’s an English-Cockney-Jewish accent so she better start practising now. But she would be great.”

Amy’s posthumous album Lioness: Hidden Treasures opened this week at the top of the charts. Part of the proceeds from the project will be used to fund the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
