Kurt Cobain’s broken guitar sells for $100,000
December 24th, 2008 - 10:29 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Dec 24 (IANS) A smashed guitar that once belonged to late Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain has been sold at an auction for $100,000 (68,493 pounds) 14 years after his death. The sale was confirmed Tuesday by the senior curator of the Experience Music Project in Seattle, US, where the taped-up Fender Mustang (guitar) had been on display, reports contactmusic.com.
The guitar was owned by Sluggo of The Grannies band. The star claimed to have traded Cobain a working guitar for the broken instrument in the legendary band’s early days, after the late singer smashed it on stage and couldn’t afford to replace it.
Cobain committed suicide in 1994.
