Los Angeles, May 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kristen Wiig has retired two “Saturday Night Live” characters from the show. TIMES report that Wiig has retired the characters Gilly and Penelope. The executive producer of SNL, Lorne Michaels, in a recent interview praised Wiig for her stage performances. He compared Wiig with SNL greats like Phil Hartman and Dan Aykroyd. Michaels further praised Wiig’s ability to transform her audition to the show. He believes that it is only Dana Carvey who has such ability.

Wiig has appeared on SNL several times. In an interview with TIMES, she revealed that she has played those two characters for far too long and is killing them off for a change.

Michaels seem impressed with how Wiig handles the show. She has been a regular on SNL since 2005. Michaels said, “She has that thing that Phil Hartman and Dan Aykroyd had, which is absolute precision, but also this lightness that isn’t what they had.”

It is not common to see other SNL cast members retire their characters so Wiig’s decision has been received with both praise and surprise by lovers of the show.

Wiig has appeared as the Target Lady of the show for some time now.
