Hard luck continued for USA as their only hope Kristen Dalton only managed to make it to the top 10 of Miss Universe 2009. Billed as one of the most prestigious beauty contest in the world, Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez was crowned as the Miss Universe 2009 beauty pageant. Kristen, in the end had to settle herself of being as one of the top ten contestants for this years Miss Universe title.

Kristen, after flaunting her NASCAR inspired “national costume” in a pre-taped opening number, the reigning Miss USA joined more than 80 other contestants in fancy cocktail dresses during the start of the Miss Universe pageant which was aired live on NBC and Telemundo.

Soon after Dalton was called on for the swimsuit leg of the competition along with 14 other contestants. Dalton’s mother, dad, her two sisters and her brother were seen in amongst the audience, cheering her up at every leg of the competition.

Kristen scored 8.060 in the swimsuit contest which was commendable enough to get her a place amongst the top ten contestants. But it was during the next round i.e. the evening gown segment that marked the end of the road for the contestant, Dalton. Flaunting a blue gown, she failed repeatedly to impress the judges which gradually dashed her hopes of making it to the final round where the top five five contestants were asked questions by the judges. The elimination of Miss USA, Kristen Dalton just before the final stage of the much sought after, Miss Universe 2009 pageant closed the doors of USA of making a mark in this years beauty pageant.

In the end, Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez was crowned as this years Miss Universe 2009.
