Konnie Huq: ‘My father wanted me to marry a Muslim’

In fact the star is the only one of the three sisters who managed to marry without the parents’ influence.
She said in an interview that because her parents were Muslims, they obviously wanted her to marry a Muslim and not her current husband - Brooker. The couple got engaged in June this year. She said that, “My parents really wanted me to have an arranged marriage when I was younger, but I think they have updated a bit with the times.”
Huq revealed that her parents became worried when she remained unmarried at the age of 35. She said they were wondering if she was ever going to marry but when she finally revealed her choice to her parents, they never quite liked the fact that he was not a Muslim.
Huq’s father was on the same show and the man, 74-year-old Mohammad said they are not bothered now about Hug’s choice. Mohammad who is currently suffering from prostate cancer said he was not bothered that millions of people watch her daughter on TV.
He however said the family does not watch Huq on TV like they did before.
