Kollywood: What Keeps The Top Heroines Away From Tamil Films?

Trisha has made her Bollywood debut with the Akshay Kumar starrer movie Khatta Meetha this year. The film could not do well at the Box Office but Trisha got noticed by the Bollywood filmmakers for her wonderful performance.
Asin is also doing quite good in Bollywood following her successful debut with Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini. As a result, the Tamil filmmakers are facing a crisis over signing a top heroine for their movies.
On the other hand, filmmakers prefer to sign the experienced heroines in their movies because these ladies are acquainted with the format of commercial cinema. According to a Top Tamil hero, it is quite tiresome to work with a new actress because they take quite long time to complete the shooting schedules and are not aware about the trends and styles for commercial cinema.
Recently, Kollywood director Lingusamy zeroed in on Sameera Reddy as one of the actresses in his multi-starrer film ‘Vettai’ after searching a lot for other Tamil heroines. He also signed a comparatively new actress Amala Paul for playing the other female lead. Lingusamy is known for giving equal importance to the heroines as he gives to the lead heroes. So, it was tough for him to sign a new face.
According to a leading producer, the new girls from Kerala lack glamor and style even if they can act well. But when it comes to commercial films, the producers want a package of both good acting skills and glamor in their heroines.
Another leading heroine of Kollywood is Anushka, who has also cut down her Tamil projects and prefers to work in Telugu films.
As a result, this has cleared the way for upcoming talented heroines like Amala Paul, Kajal Aggarwal, Hansika and Shruti Haasan. It seems that the crisis will soon end if these heroines can prove themselves with commercial success in Kollywood.
