KISS singer Simmons criticises Santana, asks him to retire
June 12th, 2009 - 1:16 pm ICT by IANS ( 3 comments )London, June 12 (IANS) Rocker Gene Simmons has got back to his feud with legendary guitarist Carlos Santana taunting him to retire.
According to contactmusic.com, the two rockers have been at it for the past five years and it all began when Santana criticised Simmons in an interview. Santana, 61, slammed Simmons saying he hides his lack of talent behind costumes and make-up and being a glam rocker.
He said: “He’s not a musician, he’s an entertainer… A musician doesn’t need the mask and the mascara.”
And now Simmons, 59, has retorted saying Santana doesn’t have enough theatrics in his shows.
Commenting on this Simmons said: “I’m sick and tired of these bands like Carlos Santana looking at his shoes and thinking that’s a rock concert… Get off the stage.”

In all fairness, it’s just as phony when Carlos Santana plays s few runs on his guitar over a Rob Thomas or a Michelle Branch vocal and calls it “Santana”. He is one of the all-time greats, but his recent popularity is only because he shows up on contemporary, already eastablished artists’ records.
Gene would be the first to admit that he is an entertainer. Since when did Rock and Roll become solely about technical ability. Were the Beatles the most technically proficient players. No, they wrote extremely catchy songs and had a better group image than any group ever.

I agree with Gene Simmons…the reason being is all of Santana’s songs sound all alike…SANTANA YOU GET OFF THE STAGE–You say you want to be a Minister–well here’s your chance !!!~
