‘King of Infomercials’ Donald Lapre arrested
June 24th, 2011 - 11:50 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattPhoenix, June 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) ‘King of Infomercials’ Donald Lapre has been arrested. He was on the run after he didn’t appear for his arraignment hearing in Phoenix, which was scheduled for Wednesday.
Donald Lapre is in the dock because there are allegations that he has defrauded thousands of people out of more than $50 million. The US Marshals had also issued a Wanted Certificate for Donald and they had stated in the poster that he is said to be a patient of depression and hence he might be prone to suicidal thoughts as well.
After he failed to turn up for the arraignment hearing then he was arrested from an area, which was adjacent to Warner Road and Priest Drive, which are located in Tempe. He was arrested on Thursday.
After his arrest, he was indicted on 41 counts that ranged from conspiracy to money laundering. His offences also included mail fraud and even wire fraud. His victims were innocent people whom he encouraged and asked to sell products, which were fake. His company is named ‘The Greatest Vitamin in the World’. On last count, he had duped 220,000 people out of their money.
