241Los Angeles, Feb 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Due to a ruptured cyst near his kidneys, which he suffered during filming in New York, the hit television show, 24 has halted filming until Kiefer can undergo what he calls “minor surgery.”

Sutherland is not only the star of the show, where he plays a counter terror agent known as Jack Bauer, but he is also the executive director. His representative had this to say,” While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and Fox decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps.”

A statement that was released by 20th Century Fox stated that Sutherland was undergoing a “medical procedure.” ” We hope to resume production shortly and do not anticipate and disruption in the broadcast of this season’s episodes,” they added.

Kiefer, who is 42 years old, suffered from the ruptured cyst during last week’s filming. They continued to film without him, filming the scenes in which he was not involved. They have now reached a point where they will need the lead actor in order to continue, thus the reason for the temporary cessation of filming. Kiefer plans to be able to return to work next week.
