In April, Somali pirates hijacked Phillips’ cargo ship, and held him for ransom.
His dramatic rescue by Navy SEALs made headlines around the world.
According to the Daily Express, film producers at Columbia Pictures have now optioned the life story rights of the captain of the Maersk Alabama.
A report on the website EW.com suggests that Spacey will be among the producers of the project.
However, it has not been revealed whether or not the double Oscar-winning star would play any role in the film. (ANI)
