Feb 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Southwest Airlines had the privilege of having several celebrities as its fliers in its history. However, it has got a useful lesson of late. If the fiasco the airlines had with popular director Kevin Smith means something to it, Southwest is going to treat its customers with more respect in future. Kevin Smith, known for his flicks like ‘Dogma’, ‘Chasing Amy’ and ‘Clerks’ was denied a seat at a Southwest flight on Saturday, on the ground of obesity. From the reports that have been made available, it becomes evident that the director-actor had settled into the allocated seat when he was asked to leave for being overweight.
As one can assume, the director was not amused with the way he was treated by the airlines. He departed the aircraft and boarded another flight. However, he could not digest the fact that the airplane’s crew made him disembark citing that his weight could become a safety risk. He found that quite insulting and decided teach the airlines a lesson for the behavior of the crew. He has more than 1.6 million Twitter fans. He posted his bitter experience on his Twitter experience and it spread like wildfire among the fans and they lashed out at the airline.
He wrote that never in his life was he treated in such a disgraceful manner over his weight. The airlines realized the mistake and sought apology from him. He was so angry that even after the airlines apologized, he pointed out that it did so because he is a celebrity and has a large fan following.
