kevin June 20, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Kevin Costner is one of the celebrities of Hollywood widely identified due to his performances in films such as Waterworld and Dances With Wolves. Yesterday, he introduced his ‘dream’ device that Costner has stated will disconnect oil from water in the Gulf of Mexico. This will ensure that the Gulf of Mexico is rescued from the environmental calamity that has been generated by the obliteration of an oil rig, managed by British Petroleum (BP), in April.

Ocean Therapy Solutions, which is Kevin Costner’s company, firmed up an agreement with BP last week to supply 32 units. These units will, in all probability, be in operation in the Gulf inside the next 60 days. This data was divulged by Doug Suttles, BP’s chief operating officer. Monetary particulars of the agreement between Costner and BP have not been publicized.

Costner has, however, urged the Americans to not expect that his machine will bequeath a magical solution to the oil spill. However, he has mentioned that it will significantly diminish the levels of contamination. Costner divulged to the reporters at a press conference in Port Fourchon that this machine, which is the realization of his dream, will provide the Americans a considerable opportunity to fight the oil spill, which has strangulated the American economy.

Costner has declared that he has utilized in excess of $20 m for the centrifuge’s growth. He stated under oath to the American Congress in the previous week that he had been endeavoring to see his company’s technology being utilized by the American government. However, there were obstacles in the form of tedious paperwork.

BP has now obtained the centrifuges and is examining the devices in order to understand whether they have the ability to decisively deal with the oil that has been inundating the Gulf. Each machine, referred to as a V20, is purportedly able to detach 210,000 gallons of oily water a day.

Oil specialists have declared that crude oil has been seeping out from the underwater well since mid-April at a projected rate of about 2.5m gallons a day.
