kennyFeb 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Singer cum guitarist Kenny Rankin died last year on June 7 when he was 69 after suffering from lung cancer. Though he died in 2009, his family especially his children want to carry his legacy further. They have planned a release of his songs. The attempt is going to be possible as the late legendary comic, George Carlin has contributed a lot in making the dream of Kenny Rankin’s family come true. Six of Kenny Rankin’s earlier albums will see their reissue by the label imprint Sly Dog Records which is marketed and distributed by Mack Avenue Records.

According to sources, Kenny Rankin’s son Chris Rankin said it was really very crucial for him and his sisters, Gena Rankin-Ray and Dr. Chanda Rankin to carry their father’s legacy. He added that Kenny Rankin even wanted to re-acquire his work. This made the work easier for them to execute. The six re-issues will include Kenny Rankin’s classic like “Family.” The cover of it has the photo of naked Kenny Rankin holding his two young daughters, who were also naked. The snap was taken in 1970s. The albums are going to be released on February 16. The album is being said to be a jazz/pop genre.

Chris Rankin thinks the new project of past and present music will let the audience reconnect with his father as someone who explored different genres of music. He believes the fans of his father’s later works will see another side of him. Whereas the fans of his earlier works who wanted to listen to his latest numbers which were not available for sometime, will be pleased as well.
