ph2010062501500 Los Angeles, Jun 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The movie star - Wesley Snipes is hoping that the arrest of Kenneth Starr, a prosecuting witness during his 2008 tax evasion trial, may help in his current tax evasion appeal.

Kenneth Starr was Wesley Snipe’s financial adviser. He was arrested and charged for securities fraud by the United States law enforcement agents. He is blamed in a $59 million securities fraud.

Starr is the financial adviser to numerous Hollywood celebrities. During the 2008 trial of Wesley Snipes for tax evasion, Starr witnessed that he advised Snipes to file his tax returns. He claimed that the actor failed to file the returns, because he chose to listen to anti tax advisers.

However with his arrest, Snipes attorneys are confident that they can prove to the court that Starr was not a credible witness for the case. Wesley Snipes attorneys argue that the State prosecutors knew that Starr was under investigation, when they chose him to testify against their client.

Wesley Snipes attorneys are therefore pleading with the court to dismiss the conviction of their client or to open a new trial for the Blade star. The have also withdrawn the appeal case that they had filed earlier.

It ought to be recalled that Wesley Snipes was found guilty of three misdemeanor counts of tax evasion. He was subsequently sentenced in April 2008, but has remained free pending his appeal.
