London, Oct 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kelsey Grammer became a grandfather for the first time on Monday when his 28-year-old daughter Spencer Grammer gave birth. The 56-year-old actor revealed he is currently in Australia and said that he missed the chance to see the arrival of the baby. The baby has been named Emmett Emmanuel.

A rep of Spencer told reporters that baby and the mother are doing well. When Emmet was born, he reportedly weighed 7lbs 7oz. Kelsey revealed his disappointment that he couldn’t be there when Spencer gave birth.

Kelsey is in Australia for the first time in his life. He is scheduled to be the main speaker during the Australian Commercial Radio Awards in Gold Coast. The event will take place over the weekend.

During an interview with the Australian broadcaster 2day FM, Kelsey said that, “My grandson’s birth began just before we took off … we also just welcomed a new niece into the family about a month ago, we keep timing it so people to into labour, and we disappear and we get pictures, we don’t have to deal with it until they’re a little more cleaned up and presentable.”

Kelsey is in Australia with his wife Kayte Walsh. He revealed that he has been sent picture of Emmet and said he was looking forward to meet him in person when he get back home.
