Los Angeles, Dec 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kelly Ripa has been left without a permanent co-host after Regis Philbin announced his retirement. For the first time since 2001, Regis is left to host the show “Live! with Regis and Kelly” without Regis.

The debate as to who will succeed Regis on the show has been ongoing. Several names have been bundled around with some suggesting that Kelly should host the show alone. After 28 years on the show, Regis announced at the beginning of the year that he will be stepping down as co-host. To that announcement, Kelly told him that, “It has been a pleasure and privilege and a dream come true and I wish I could do something to make you change your mind. I love listening to you every day.”

To reflect the change, the show’s name has now appropriately been changed to “Live! With Kelly” and Kelly has since hosted the show with several temporal co-hosts. She joined the signature show in February 2001. Before that, she was a household name in the sitcom industry playing the role of Hayley Vaughan in the television show All My Children. She played the role from 1990 to 2002 picking five Soap Opera Digest Awards over the period.
