Keith Olbermann Parts Ways With MSNBC

Jan 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After being associated with MSNBC for eight long years, news anchor Keith Olbermann has ultimately parted ways. The esteemed political commentator’s sudden departure from the network that he helped built over the years, as come as a rude shock to most of its regular viewers and they surely could not believe their ears when Keith Olbermann confirmed the news on his ‘Countdown’ show Friday night. A statement that was issued by the NBC Universal later on Friday further confirmed the news that the highly-acclaimed news anchor would not be associated with the network anymore.
The statement released by NBC Universal read that Keith Olbermann and MSNBC have decided to end their contract while adding that Friday’s episode of ‘Countdown with Keith Olbermann’ would be the last one to be aired on the network. Through the statement, NBC officials also expressed gratitude to the noted political commentator for his ‘integral role in MSNBC’s success’ while wishing him the best for the future endeavors. Although on Friday night, Keith Olbermann affirmed in his very own signature style that he was leaving the show, he did not reveal details about the reason for his abrupt decision to step down.
Despite the fact that Keith Olbermann’s sudden exit from MSNBC might have come as a bolt from the blue for the viewers, sources have said that differences between the news anchor and the network officials had been brewing for weeks now. While talking to the media, on condition of anonymity, an NBC Universal executive revealed that the relationship between Keith Olbermann and the network had been failing for a long time.
