Sep 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) ‘SNL’ fans were treated to some great music and comedy as pop icon Katy Perry made her debut on the show. The star has expressed earlier that she was excited to make an appearance on the show, but fans will know that it was the pulling out of the ‘Sesame Street’ video that made her ‘SNL’ worthy this weekend. Coming fresh from the controversy of her video with Elmo being pulled out from ‘Sesame Street’, most fans predicted that she will be the target of some serious digs by the ‘SNL’ comedians.

Katy Perry performed her hit singles ‘California Gurls’ and ‘Teenage Dream’ on the show and there was no parodying (strangely) of the ‘Sesame Street’ video. In the controversial ‘Sesame Street’ video, Katy Perry is seen wearing a yellow dress with straps and a high hemline. The video that was intended for children showed too much skin, according to some parents. The lyrics of the song ‘Hot N Cold’ that Katy Perry sang was also said to be too suggestive. The network finally decided to stop the video from airing and thus making it a rage on the web. The episode also saw the return of the veteran comedian Amy Poehler.

This weekend’s episode of ‘SNL’ also had some juice for all those who have been following the Christine O’Donnell political drama over the weeks. In one sketch the actress, impersonating Christine O’Donnell, revealed that she is no longer against masturbation and in fact does it constantly herself. There was also some reference to the past of the Republican when the impersonating actress left in a witch’s hat on a broomstick. New York governor David Paterson also appeared on the show and criticized it for the digs on handicapped people.
