Katy Perry amongst MTV VMA winners

Los Angeles, Aug 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Singer Katy Price picked the top prize at the MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday night. The video of her hit song “Firework” was chosen as the top music video of the year.

She was at the event to receive the prize herself. When she got on the stage, Price told the audience that, “Oh, my goodness, thank you so much…I’m very proud of the song it stands for.”

The glittering VMA Moonman statuette which was given as the award for the top prize had received more than 200 million views on the Internet since it was uploaded. The honor in terms of the number of awards was shared between the Price and Adele. Both singers walked away from the event with three awards each.

Price won the awards in the collaboration and special effects categories with her collaboration with Kanye West, “E.T.” Adele picked her three honors in the areas of best art direction, best editing and best cinematography.

MTV paid tribute to Amy Winehouse during the event. Comedian Russell Brand said that, “She suffered from alcoholism and drug addiction. A lot of people just get the disease; not everyone gets the talent Amy was blessed with.”
