New Delhi, July 31 (IANS) Katrina Kaif, Bollywood’s new style icon who is usually seen in western clothes, has shot an entire song in saris for “Singh Is Kinng”. The actress says she loved the experience. “Director Anees Bazmi was very clear that he wanted me to have an Indian look for the song. And what could have made me look more Indian than a sari? I thoroughly loved it. A sari makes a woman look so graceful and feminine,” Katrina said in a statement.
“Also, in the song Akshay imagines us dancing in the mysterious locales of Egypt,” she added.
An industry source said: “All popular songs that Katrina has done so far in her films have either had her in casual or formal wear. This is the first time that she has shot a song in a sari.”
Fashion designer Manish Malhotra has designed the saris that Katrina has flaunted in the song.
“This is for the first time that Manish has designed a costume for me. And his creations are just wonderful,” said Katrina.
Coincidentally, the song has been shot at the same location in Egypt where Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol filmed the popular song “Suraj hua madham” for “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”.
Manish was also the one behind Kajol’s lovely saris in the song.

Helen plays grandmother again in ‘Bachpan’
Bollywood’s former dancing queen Helen will be seen after a long hiatus in debutant director Rajiv Sharma’s “Bachpan”, a musical family saga seen from the perspective of children.
Said Helen, who plays a grandmother in the film: “The script is simply amazing. When I read it, I was so overwhelmed that I decided I had do it.”
She added: “I recently saw the rushes of ‘Bachpan’ and I immensely liked the way the movie has shaped up.”
Sharma had earlier assisted directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Satish Kaushik, and was also a creative director with Firoz Nadiadwala.
He had always visualised Helen playing the character of the grandmother in the film.
The actress has played a grandmother before in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Khamoshi”.
“The film begins by exploring storytelling from the viewpoint of kids from the point where ‘Taare Zameen Par’ ends,” said a trade insider who had seen the rushes.
Padmini Kolhapure joins Helen with four talented children in the film.

Shiney Ahuja - the good son
Actor Shiney Ahuja, who will be seen in “Hijack”, is busy playing a good son these days. He is set to shift to a new house in Mumbai only for his parents.
“My parents have been living in Delhi and have a different lifestyle. I have decided to move them to Mumbai. I don’t want them to miss Delhi and so keeping that in mind, I have bought a house that would make them feel comfortable and at home. My wife agrees with my decision too,” said Shiney.
The actor’s new house boasts of spacious rooms and a huge balcony, just the way his parents would like it.
Shiney says he had decided long back that if he ever shifts base to Mumbai, he would bring his parents too.
His daughter Arshya is another reason the actor wants to get his parents to live with him.
Since Shiney was close to his grandmother, he does not want his baby girl to miss out on the love of her grandparents.
“The love that I got from my grandmother cannot be put into words. I want my baby to be close to her grandparents so that she can experience the same love. I want my child to relate to my parents’ emotional feelings,” he said.
