Katie Perry Goes Ridiculous on American IdolMay 14th, 2009 - 4:27 pm ICT by GD
American Idol on Wednesday saw a number of guest stars amid riveting performances from the top three finalists. Jordin Sparks, the platinum-selling singer who rose from American Idol 6 came on stage to perform her latest “Battlefield” from her yet-to-be titled album and her co-writer Ryan Tedder on the piano. A boy from Rwanda, Noah, sings “I’m the World’s Greatest” and says he wants to make an album and use its proceeds to help the AIDS affected children in his homeland. Alicia Keys comes on to make an appeal for $5 donations to the “Keep A Child Alive” foundation and then Katie Parry takes the stage.
The first thing before Katie’s performance was Danny’s quip, “there’s been enough commercials, enough suspense — I just want to get it over.” No terrible wait there from Danny for the performance, but Katie still comes on stage. And she wears some Vegas showtime rip-off of Elvis Presley’s clothes and sings “Waking up In Vegas”. At least Adam wanted to see her perform her latest single! She romps around the stage looking like Wonderwoman in Elvis’ hand-me-downs, and whats more the the clothes do not fit her very well. She presents a rather comical spectacle and looks like she is about to usurp Adam’s claims of theatrical and over-the top. While she has given us better songs in the past, this time she sounds weak and tops it up with a rather moronic expression in her eyes. But from the way she performs it is rather clear that she did have a lot of fun, which is perhaps the only reason she can be forgiven for the Elvis drag and bad vocals.
