Katie Finneran Wins Her Second Tony Award

katNew York, June 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Katie Finneran makes it to the Tony Awards again. The actress who received the 2002 Tony Award under the category of Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance in “Noises Off”, took the stage once again on Sunday to receive the award for her performance in the musical “Promises, Promises”.

The actress who turned out for the annual ceremony in a beautiful white gown, seemed elated to receive the award for the second time.

On stage after accepting the award, Katie Finneran thanked her family and friends for their support and also thanked her co-star Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes.

The actress said that Sean Hayes is the “best scene partner ever”. She also addressed the kids watching the ceremony on television asking them to pursue their dreams. Katie Finneran who recently got engaged to actor Darren Goldstein dedicated her award to her fiance.

The actress who received her award for a comic performance in “Promises, Promises” maintained the same comic tone in her acceptance speech as well when she thanked Kristin Chenoweth for lending the former “her eyelashes tonight”.

Backstage Katie Finneran said to media sources that she grew up to be an actress dreaming of the Tony Awards. According to Katie Finneran she was driven by an artistic urge to be a part of the theater and was inspired by Angela Lansbury. She also said that seeing Angela Lansbury address the audience at the beginning of the Tony Awards made her “emotional”.

Meanwhile, Angela Lansbury was also nominated for the award in the same category for her performance in “A Little Night Music”.
