New York City, May 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Bloomberg has reported that CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric will have a daytime show on ABC. The report said the network has agreed in principle to advance $20 million towards the production of the show. A source with knowledge of the situation told Bloomberg that former NBC Universal Chief Executive Officer Jeff Zucker will be the executive producer of the show.

Katie’s current contract with CBS ends on the 5th of June. An earlier negotiations with CBS for a daytime show reportedly stalled prompting Katie to start fresh negotiations with ABC.

A rep of Katie wouldn’t confirm the report saying his boss has not made any decision concerning her future. ABC also declined to comment on the report.

What is however clear is that she will not be the anchor of CBS’ Evening News for long. CBS announced recently that “60 Minutes’” Scott Pelley will replace Katie as anchor. The new show titled, “CBS Evening News With Scott Pelley” will premiere on the 6th of June.

54-year-old Katie has been the anchor for the Evening News since 2006. CBS is struggling to get favorable rating for the show. The arrival of Katie did not change the fortunes of the network. Ratings for the show hit all time low when it averaged 4.89 million viewers during the week of the 24th of August 2010.
