Feb 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kathy Freston, one of the most popular and celebrated dietitian of United States of America, was once again invited at the “Oprah Winfrey Show”. She recently wrote a new book, “Veganist”, that has just hit the market. Oprah Winfrey and her 300 plus crew members not only wanted to promote the book, but also the ideals that the book aims to endorse.
Vegan diet means adhering to a vegetarian and plant based diet, without any traces of animal protein, or parts of animal body. According to the author, a vegan diet can be useful in many ways. It protects against obesity, heart diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, renal diseases and increases immunity to many folds. It can be taken by all age groups. Kathy Freston said that she substitutes her protein intake by legumes and whole grains. She also consumes lentil soups, vegan chilli, black beans and burritos, to supplement animal protein. Her snacks include Daiya, which is a cheese substitute created out of tapioca and arrow root and pea protein. Where meat is strictly avoided by her, she consumed soya protein instead. She said in the show that a vegan diet can be extremely good for health and spirituality. It also helps in making the world a more peaceful place to stay.
Oprah Winfrey and her crew members were inspired by what she advocated and decided to try out this form to food habit and see the changes within themselves. However, Oprah Winfrey has previously tried to adopt the same type of food habit in 2008, when she was inspired by reading “Quantum Wellness: A Practical and Spiritual Guide to Health and Happiness”, the first book written by Kathy Freston. The dietitian is a regular contributor in leading news papers, and has been previously featured in “Good Morning America”, “Allen De Genre Show” and “The View”.
