Kathleen Turner Returning To Broadway Once Again

kathleenJan 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kathleen Turner is to return to Broadway in Matthew Lombardo’s new play titled “High” as announced by the producers of the show on Friday. The play is to be directed by Rob Ruggiero. The previews of the play is supposed to begin on March 25 and would open on April 19 at Manhattan’s Booth Theatre. The cast also includes Evan Jonigkeit and Stephen Kunken. Kathleen Turner, 56, is best known for her roles in some of the hit movies like “Romancing the Stone” and “Prizzi’s Honor”. In this Broadway play, she would be essaying the role of Sister Jamison Connelly. This would be a treat to the eyes of people who love theater.

“High” looks into the relationship between a 19 year-old drug addict who is helped by Sister Jamison Connelly, played by Kathleen Turner. This play marks the first return of Kathleen Turner to Broadway since her 2005 Tony-nominated appearance in a revised version of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”. the play “High” revolves around Sister Jamison Connelly, who finds her faith tested after she agrees to sponsor a 19-year-old drug user in an effort to fight his addiction. She struggles between the knowledge which she possesses as a rehabilitation counselor and her own moral convictions. By this struggle of her, she begins to question the belief in miracles and whether or not people can find the courage in these miracles to change themselves.

Kathleen Turner has appeared on Broadway in a number of plays, which include “The Graduate” and “Indiscretions” and she has also directed the off-Broadway revival of “Crimes of the Heart”. Her many screen credits include “The War of the Roses”, “Marley & Me”, “Serial Mom”, “The Accidental Tourist”, “Prizzi’s Honor” and ‘Romancing the Stone’, as well as the recent stint on TV’s ‘Californication’.
