Los Angeles, March 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Katherine Heigl has reportedly decided to part with her role as Dr. Izzie Stevens in the famous television series Grey’s Anatomy. The role which has made Katherine Heigl a household name will be let off as the actress now wants to concentrate on her big screen ventures. The news comes just when the actress was to return to the show after three months of maternity leave.

The news of the actress leaving the Grey’s Anatomy was made public by the Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello. According to reports Shonda Rhimes, the brain behind the Grey’s Anatomy, has agreed to release the star from the contract. The release has not yet been finalized and the representative of the actress and the ABC’s officials are working out the final exit agreement. The actress was to reportedly scheduled to return to the Grey’s Anatomy sets on March 1 to complete the five more episodes. However, the actress has decided to quit the show without completing the season.

The decision to quit the show is being linked by many to the long run problem that Katherine Heigl was having with the show’s management and crew. The actress had back in the year 2008 denied to participate in the prestigious Emmy Awards while complaining that the writer of the Grey’s Anatomy did not write the script according to the standard of the actress. Last year she complained to the talk show host David Letterman that the Grey’s Anatomy producer was draining her out by making her work seventeen hours a day. The actress has been working in the show for six years.
