While whether or not ‘Gentlemen prefer blondes’ still remains a matter of conjecture, apparently American Idol star Katharine McPhee has decided that blondes do in fact have all the fun, going by her latest hair makeover, or ‘hair-over’ more appropriately!

The fledgling star, whose signature long, brown tresses have been a standard fixture throughout her brush with fame, has traded in her lengthy brown mane for a daring platinum blonde, rocker-style look. Emanating loads of attitude, this brunette-turned-blonde’s new style statement, is for her new album campaign that features promo shots of her in her new bleach blonde rock-chic persona.

The sophomore album “Unbroken”, that is slotted to hit the music stores on October 6th, finds the fledgling music-star, testing new waters of creativity, and experimenting with adventurous new styles, an extension of which, according to Kat, happens to be her new fashion leap, courtesy her stylist Peter Savic. According to McPhee, who speaks to People magazine, it was apparently a “pretty drastic change” for her, considering that this natural-born brunette had never dyed her hair, but that it probably was in keeping with the theme of experimentation that the new album is so characteristic of.

Further, she adds that, the music in her latest offering being a “little more edgy”, she was inspired to be more adventurous with her looks, especially given that she happens to be young, which is according to her, the best time for trying out new things. Evidently, Kat’s gone from being a member of “The Young and the Restless’ club to joining “The ‘Blonde’ and the Beautiful” brigade.
