Mar 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kate Winslet, 34 and her husband Sam Mendes , 44, were married in May 2003, in a secret ceremony in the West Indies. They have a son Joe, who is six years old, and Kate has a daughter, Mia, who si 9 years old from a former marriage to Jim Threapleton. Now they are announcing that after almost seven years of marriage, they are calling it quits.

You may remember last year, as Kate Winslet finally won an Oscar for her performance, in The Reader after 5 previous nominations, her husband, director Sam Mendes was by her side.He also directed the movie Revolutionary Road in 2008, which won Kate a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her work in the movie. This year, although Kate attended the event, she was alone.

Now her lawyers, the London-based firm known as Schillings have released a statement which read ,”Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year, the split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children.” The couple apparently spilt earlier this year.
