Kate Winslet All Set To Act In ‘God Of Carnage’ Adaptation

winslet September 25, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Kate Winslet has now decided to take on a role in the adaptation of the famous play ‘God Of Carnage’. The original play had been by Yasmina Reza and Winslet has agreed to cease showing off her model boyfriend, Louis Dowler for the moment as she gets down to work with the controversial director Roman Polanski.

Polanski will be filming it in Paris despite the entire play being set in New York. The infamous director has been banned from entering the United States after he was found guilty of coercing an underage girl into having sex in 1977.

Emma Thompson, the actress and close friend of Winslet had signed a petition against the extradition of Polanski to the United States of America. It had been an attempt by his prosecutors in Switzerland. Thompson, however, withdrew her name after three days.

One of the other acting goddesses Jodie Foster is also likely to share screen space with Kate. Christoph Waltz and Matt Dillon known for their performances in ‘Inglourious Basterds’ and ‘Crash’ respectively will take on the role of their husbands according to the Deadline.

The award winning play being adapted is likely to start with the meeting of the two sets of parents at the school of their kids. They try to resolve a conflict between their children which had got out of hand and one of them ended up hitting the other on the mouth with a stick. The meeting devolves almost immediately with all option for humor being crushed under the combined emotions of despair, fear and pain. The plot is supposed to be extremely tight and completely loveless in its portrayal.

Shooting for the film is likely to begin in February.
