July 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kate Gosselin and her kids are going to continue hogging the limelight with their reality series. Despite efforts by state representative Thomas Kurt who complained that the reality star’s six-year-old octuplets are being ‘unlawfully exploited’ while the shooting for TLC’s “Kate Plus”, the Pennsylvania labor department has contended that the work permits of Kate Gosselin’s kids are valid.

A statement that was released on Tuesday by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry reveals that the sextuplets of the reality star are not being ‘unlawfully exploited’ while they are filmed for the TLC reality show in their Wernersville home. The six kids and their 35-year-old mother along with their two twin elder sister aged 9, are part of the popular reality series on TLC titled “Kate Plus 8.”

Last week, the work permits of Kate Gosselin’s six-year-old kids were questioned by the state representative Thomas Kurt who had emphasized that as per the laws in Pennsylvania, kids were are below the age of seven are permitted to work in movies but not in television. The state representative contended that the children were being ‘exploited’ as they were just six years old. However, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry chose to disagree with Thomas Kurt while stating that the kids are not being exploited as they do not have very long working hours and also receive fair amount of compensation. Nevertheless, the state representative continues to emphasize that the permits are illegal while also hinting that the labor department should seek the help of the attorney general for a ruling in this regard.
