Kate Beckinsale doesn’t want likeable roles

Los Angeles, Jan 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actress Kate Beckinsale has indicated that she does not enjoy playing characters that are instantly liked by viewers. The star’s latest project is Underworld Awakening where she plays the role of Selene, a vampire hunter.

Speaking to Manhattan Magazine, Kate revealed that, “I’m not attracted to characters who are instantly likeable, nor am I that interested in making them likeable. My goal is to make them real, to find what makes them human and empathetic, to trace a certain logic that explains why a character is how she is.”

During the interview, Kate indicated that playing Selene in the movie helped her to become a better person. According to the actress, she currently faces her fears with the optimism that she will “survive.”

Kate’s first role in the Underworld franchise was about eight years ago. She believes playing the role over the years have helped her to become a bold person. She pointed in particular how Selene’s confrontations with evil spirits have emboldened her making her a stronger person.

The latest Underwood movie, Awakening, will be released to the various cinemas in North America on the weekend of the 20th of January. The vampire movie is expected to be released worldwide at a later date.
